Food Rules for the 4th

Here are the July 4th food rules for my house, a gathering that consists of me and my dog:

  1. Bratwurst > hotdog, and both can be flexible in terms of toppings; hotdogs = good sometimes.
  2. Thin cheeseburger my way only. This is one dish I don’t experiment with much. My inflexible cheeseburger toppings include ketchup, mayo, raw onions, and pickles, all > your janky, thick burger that you keep piling with shit.
  3. Chicago hotdogs or brats > NYC hotdogs or brats, but NYC pizza hands down > Chicago pizza, even though pizza’s not a traditional July 4th food.
  4. I’m making beef ginger scallion noodles for the 4th so kiss my ass.
  5. Happy 4th!

If you want to make a yummy summertime dessert today or when the mood hits, try this yummy No Bake S’Mores Icebox Cake from Sally’s Baking Addiction. Sally McHenry is a baker, cookbook author, and food photographer I know I can count on when I need a dessert that wows, no matter the time of year. Oh, one more thing: choose the site’s Cook Mode Option so your screen doesn’t go dark while you’re whipping this treat together.
